After four hours of guest speakers, open lectures and talks involving the occupiers, students of the various universities, lecturers, activists and college students, we are nearly at the showpiece of the evening – The Anti-Cuts Meeting.
The Student Union are also hosting an anti-cuts meeting, but they are non-supportive of those occupying the lecture theatre and have issued no statement in our favour. Bizarrely, the lecturers union is supporting us, but the student union aren’t.
As a result of this we’ve sent a delegation to the student union in order to show that we are the truly passionate party here and that we are the ones who will make the difference in this struggle. We’ve been in contact with the other occupations around the country and through peaceful protest have drawn great media attention, both in Manchester and nationwide.
The occupation delegation will attempt to bring people from the Union’s meeting over to the occupier’s meeting.
